You could say that Paramount Club nutritionist Carly Feigan has more than a career, she has a calling. Originally a biology major, Feigan was soon drawn to helping people with their health journeys in a more personal way, a decision that led her into a new field. “I had a mission due to losing one parent from obesity-related complications – helping people to reach and exceed their health and wellness goals,” she says. “So, my passion for this work hits very close to my heart.”
After graduating from Queens College, Feigan began her nutrition career, working with everyone from private clients to Equinox Fitness to create tailored plans for healthy living. “The most gratifying thing about my work is participating in the transformation with my clients as they experience a sense of wellbeing, a better self-image, improved stamina and agility, better outlook overall, and a happier disposition as they realize their goals are achievable, manageable and sustainable,” she says.
Feigan looks at all aspects of a client’s life including fitness routines, family history and medical concerns before crafting a plan and says that the evolution of the nutrition field now allows her to see even more deeply into quantifiable data. “We now take into consideration things like climate change and eco-farming when designing meal plans. We look at the prevalence of organic food vs non- organic food, labeling of foods that are non-genetically modified…,” she says. “[We understand] how the importance of sleep and exercise play a vital role in improving overall health and wellness.”
In the end though, all the data comes together in what Feigan says is an easily accessed piece of advice. “The best advice I can offer new clients is to follow the prescribed program tailored to their lifestyle, have fun, live well and enjoy life.”
