Drawing on her vast knowledge of therapeutic botanicals, Allison Weldon has turned a small-batch organic skin and hair care company into an in-demand wellness brand carried by luxury retailers like Moda Operandi and GOOP. Now her brand, Sangre de Fruta (or “blood of the fruit”) has found a home in the Paramount Club. We spoke with Weldon to learn more about sourcing her ingredients, hand making her offerings and how her products came to the Club.
TPC: How did you become interested in therapeutic botanicals and what inspired you to start the line?
AW: It was a combination of an interest in natural perfumery, aromatherapy and meeting a mentor who inspired me and led me to work with therapeutic botanicals. I started Sangre de Fruta after years of making small-batch creams and lotions with my friend and former owner of one of Vancouver’s first apothecaries. Under her tutelage, I learned the art of mixing precious oils and saw an opportunity to use my love of botanicals and my background in fashion and design to create a brand with sensual, wildcrafted formulas.
TPC: How do you source your ingredients?
AW: We source local, organic and wild harvested ingredients and we aim to work with small independent farmers where we can. We purchase from producers we know and trust, near and far.
TPC: What sets your products apart from other botanical wellness lines?
AW: I think it’s our emphasis on wellness through indulgence and the senses, celebrating unique beauty, and keeping our products truly artisanal that sets our products apart from others. We make them by hand on Bowen Island, in BC, Canada, right next to our shop and head office, and we are dedicated to using only the most beautiful and natural ingredients, free from fillers and synthetics.
TPC: How did you connect with Paramount Club?
AW: The Paramount team contacted us, and we immediately recognized the alignment in our shared commitment to delivering unparalleled luxury and wellness-oriented experiences. We’re thrilled to be partnering with the club!
